10How do I create a document in Peak Docs?How-to
Page to shareHow do I create a document in Peak Docs?
On the Peak Docs start page, write what you need, for example “Q4 board update” or “Meeting with Everglobe”. Peak first checks whether the document already exists, offers the last edition as a template and warns about duplicates of canonical documents. Otherwise Peak creates a new document with a fitting outline. “Blank” starts with nothing. + Create in the header works too.
- Open Peak Docs.
- Type what you're looking for or want to write in the search field.
- Choose “Keep working”, “Use structure” or “Create”.

Personal documents are private. Documents you create in a company workspace are visible to that workspace. Under “Share”, as the owner you decide whether the whole workspace may edit, comment or read, and give individual people from your workspaces a role. Anyone who is removed loses access immediately, even in an open tab.
- Open the document.
- Click “Share” at the top right.
- Choose workspace visibility and people with their role.
How do I save a version and restore an earlier state?How-to

Via “Versions” in the document. Peak saves automatically after longer work sessions, on every status change, before a restore and before changes by Ask Peak. You save your own versions with a name. When restoring, Peak first saves the current state as a version, and everyone sees the old state right away.
- Open the document and then “Versions”.
- Enter a name, such as “Sent to client”, and click “Save”.
- To restore, choose “Restore” on a version and confirm.

- Choose “Comment” and write your comment.
- Under “Comments”, reply, mark it as “Resolved” or open it again with “Reopen”.

Frequently asked
4How do we write a document together?Answer
Page to shareHow do we write a document together?
Everyone with edit rights writes at the same time; changes appear instantly for everyone, without conflicts. At the top right you see who's in the document; clicking a face follows that person through the document. Without a connection, just keep writing; Peak syncs everything once you're back online. The status at the top shows “Synced”, “Saving …” or “Offline”.
What do @ references, Peak tasks and decisions do?Answer
Page to shareWhat do @ references, Peak tasks and decisions do?
With @ you reference people, companies, products, goals, tasks or other documents from Peak One. The reference stays connected to the object instead of being retyped, and the object knows about the document. You turn a checklist line into a real task via the selection or / → Peak task; it then appears in Day and Board and gets checked off in the document when it's completed there. With / → Decision, you record what was decided and why; all decisions are listed under Peak Docs › Decisions.
What are variables, and why are values “frozen”?Answer
Page to shareWhat are variables, and why are values “frozen”?
You maintain a variable such as {{Client}} or {{Month}} in one place; the same value appears everywhere in the text. Values are live at first. As soon as a document is set to “Approved” or “Published”, Peak freezes all values used, so the document stays exactly as it was approved. Under Variables, you can switch a value back to live.
What do status, freshness and “Canonical” mean for a document?Answer
Page to shareWhat do status, freshness and “Canonical” mean for a document?
The status is “Draft”, “In review”, “Approved” or “Published”. Under “Freshness”, you set how often the document should be reviewed (every 30 days, every quarter, every six months, yearly or never); when it's due, it appears on the home page under “Review due”. “Canonical” makes a document the preferred source: it's found first and warns about duplicates. Only the owner can set that.

2Why can't I change anything in a document?Error message
Page to shareWhy can't I change anything in a document?
Your role doesn't allow it. In that case it says “Read only” or “You can comment” at the top. If your rights were just removed, you see the latest state, but changes are no longer saved. Ask the owner to give you the “Edit” role under “Share”.

Page to shareIt says “Not saved” or “Saved · live not connected” at the top. What should I do?
“Not saved” means the last save attempt failed. “Saved · live not connected” means your changes are saved, but the live connection to the others in the document is down right now.
- For “Not saved”, click “Try again” next to it. Don't close the tab before that.
- For “Offline · keep writing, will sync automatically”, keep writing; Peak syncs as soon as you're online.
- For “Saved · live not connected”, reopen the document and Peak reconnects the live view.

1Why doesn't Ask Peak change my document right away? Not available yet
Page to shareWhy doesn't Ask Peak change my document right away?
Ask Peak only suggests changes: you see beforehand what will change, and you apply, discard or regenerate. If someone has changed the same passage in the meantime, Peak doesn't apply the suggestion, so nothing is overwritten. Peak answers questions such as “What has been decided?” directly from the text, without AI. Free writing with Ask Peak must be connected for the workspace.
