Via “Choose first focus” or “+ From Peak Task”. The picker shows suggestions with reasons, items due today, overdue items and your tasks; search can create a new task if you like. Three at most: a fourth replaces one of the three, and the replaced task stays scheduled for today in Peak Task. Change the order by dragging or in a card's menu.

- First choose a focus task.
- In “Today in the calendar”, tap a free slot and choose “Focus block →”, or choose “Focus block” with the suggested time in a card's menu.
- If Peak suggests “Your largest free block starts at …” at the top, one tap on “Block …” is enough.

In focus mode you choose 25, 50 or 90 minutes, “Custom” (5 to 480 minutes) or “Open-ended”. “+10 min” extends, “Hide time” hides the clock while it keeps running. You set the defaults under “Working hours & buffer”: for “Timer in focus mode”, choose “Time remaining”, “Time elapsed” or “Hide”, plus the default duration.
- Open Peak Focus and choose “Working hours & buffer”.
- Under “Timer in focus mode”, choose what the clock should show and the default duration.
- Save. In focus mode you can change both at any time.

Frequently asked
8How does Peak Focus calculate free focus time?Answer
Page to shareHow does Peak Focus calculate free focus time?
Working hours from Peak Booking (otherwise 9:00 am–5:00 pm), minus events from Peak Day and Peak Booking and busy time from Google Calendar, minus a buffer around each event and a protected break, minus whatever has already passed. Windows under 15 minutes don't count. You set buffers and the break under “Working hours & buffers”. It's a planning aid, not an assessment.
What can I do in focus mode without leaving it?Answer
Page to shareWhat can I do in focus mode without leaving it?
Done (D), Note (C: press Enter and a thought lands in the Peak Task inbox), Blocked (B: one sentence on what's missing; follow-up in three days) and Pause (Esc: back to Today, the time stays saved). The space bar pauses the timer, and 1–3 switch the task after a confirmation. The timer is optional: 25, 50, 90 minutes, a custom duration or open-ended.
What happens to my focus time if I'm interrupted or close the tab?Answer
Page to shareWhat happens to my focus time if I'm interrupted or close the tab?
The session lives on the server; Peak calculates the time from the start and the pauses. If you close the tab, it keeps running and appears in the mini player at the bottom of every page until you stop it. The next time you open it, “Continue where you left off” appears at the top with the focused time so far and your note. Peak Timer shows the same session in its history.
What does “Close the day” mean?Answer
Page to shareWhat does “Close the day” mean?
Every open focus task gets a decision: tomorrow, back to Peak Task, put aside or done. Nothing piles up silently: Peak Focus shows focus tasks from earlier days without a decision at the top. There is no score.
Are the three in Peak Focus the same as in Peak Task and Peak Day?Answer
Page to shareAre the three in Peak Focus the same as in Peak Task and Peak Day?
Yes. The three are the Focus 3 of Peak Task and the top 3 of Peak Day, the same tasks. What you complete in Peak Focus is done everywhere. Peak Focus has no backlog of its own.
All three are done. Does Peak Focus refill the list?Answer
Page to shareAll three are done. Does Peak Focus refill the list?
No. Peak Focus shows “The important things are done.” and doesn't fill anything in by itself. You choose “Stay with it”, “One more focus task” or “Open Peak Task”.

Page to sharePeak Focus says I've picked more than I have time for.
The estimated duration of your three is longer than the free focus time Peak calculates from working hours and appointments. “Reduce scope” shows “Remove” on each card. “Keep anyway” hides the notice for today. Peak counts tasks without an estimate and names them.

Open Peak FocusWhat happens when I switch tasks in focus mode?Answer
Page to shareWhat happens when I switch tasks in focus mode?
Peak asks once: “Switch focus?”. The previous task stays open, and the time so far stays counted. Choose “Stay with the current one” or switch to the other task. Keys 1 to 3 jump straight to one of the three.
Errors & problems
1“Focus time not saved” or “Not saved”.Error message
Page to share“Focus time not saved” or “Not saved”.
The change didn't reach the server, usually because of the connection. Your focus time so far isn't lost; it's on the server. Check your internet and repeat the last step.
