How do I get started with Peak Inventory?

In three steps: connect data, add lead times, first analysis. Products come from Peak Products, stock from Shopify or a CSV, sales from Peak Profit. After that, “Today” shows the items you should reorder.

    1. Open Peak Inventory.
    2. Connect Shopify under Settings → Integrations or upload a CSV with stock levels.
    3. Enter one lead time for all items, different per supplier if needed.
    4. Start the analysis.

  • How does a recommendation become an order?How-to

How does a recommendation become an order?

Through a purchasing plan. You select recommendations, optionally set a budget, check the quantities and approve the plan (owners and admins). Then you hand it over to purchasing and download it as CSV. Peak never orders on its own.

    1. Open “Purchasing”.
    2. Select the recommendations and create a purchasing plan.
    3. Check the quantities and approve the plan.
    4. Hand it over to purchasing and download the CSV.
    5. Record the confirmed order on the item as incoming stock.

  • What does the CSV for stock, lead times and incoming stock look like?How-to

What does the CSV for stock, lead times and incoming stock look like?

A header row and one row per item, separated by commas or semicolons, at most 5 MB. Only “sku” is required. Add as needed (the importer expects these exact column names): lagerort (location), bestand (stock), verfuegbar (available), reserviert (reserved), lieferzeit (lead time), mindestmenge (minimum order quantity), verpackungseinheit (pack size), sicherheitsbestand_tage (safety stock in days), zulauf_menge (incoming quantity), liefertermin (delivery date), referenz (reference). The SKU must exist in your catalog in Peak Products. Without a location, everything goes under “Own warehouse”.

    1. Open Peak Inventory → Setup.
    2. Choose “Without Shopify: upload CSV” and the file.
    3. Peak checks every row and shows errors with row numbers before anything is saved.
    4. “Apply” imports; “Discard” doesn't.

  • How do I change lead time, safety stock or minimum order quantity?How-to

How do I change lead time, safety stock or minimum order quantity?

On an item's page under “Planning settings” with “Change settings”. Under “Applies to”, choose whether the setting applies to the variant, the product, the supplier, the category or as your organization's default. The more specific level wins, and an empty field inherits the next more general setting. Without your own input, Peak uses 14 days of safety stock and a 30-day order cycle.

    1. Open “Stock” and click the item.
    2. Under “Planning settings”, choose “Change settings”.
    3. Under “Applies to”, choose the level and enter lead time, safety stock, order cycle, minimum order quantity, pack size, maximum stock or “Overstock from”.
    4. Click “Save”. Peak recalculates right away.

  • How do I record an ordered delivery that's still on its way?How-to

How do I record an ordered delivery that's still on its way?

As incoming stock on the item's page. Only confirmed incoming stock with an arrival date counts in planning. Planned incoming stock is shown but not included. When the goods arrive, you book the receipt.

    1. Open “Stock” and click the item.
    2. Choose “Record incoming”, enter quantity and arrival, and choose “Confirmed” or “Planned only”. A reference is optional.
    3. Save. Peak recalculates.
    4. When the goods are there, choose “Book receipt” with the quantity received. If they don't come, choose “Cancel”.

  • How do I work out what happens if demand rises or a delivery arrives later?How-to

How do I work out what happens if demand rises or a delivery arrives later?

Under Plan → “What if?”. Peak recalculates every item with changed assumptions and shows what changes. Scenarios don't change stock, recommendations or purchase plans.

    1. Open Peak Inventory → “Plan” and scroll to “What if?”.
    2. Enter demand in %, lead time ± days, “Incoming later by” or a budget. Optionally only for one category, supplier or SKU.
    3. Click “Calculate”. Peak shows Act now, Act soon, Revenue at risk and what changes most.
    4. “Save as scenario” stores it under “Saved scenarios”.

Frequently asked

4
  • How does Peak Inventory calculate the order date and quantity?Answer

How does Peak Inventory calculate the order date and quantity?

Peak estimates sales per day from your orders, leaving out days when the item was sold out. Stock is projected day by day, and confirmed incoming stock is added on its arrival date. You need to order one lead time before safety stock is touched. The quantity covers lead time and order cycle plus safety stock, minus stock and incoming, rounded up to the minimum quantity and pack size. Every recommendation shows this calculation.

  • Why does an item say “Data incomplete”?Answer

Why does an item say “Data incomplete”?

Peak only recommends what it can calculate reliably. If the lead time is missing, stock is unknown or there's no sales history, that never counts as zero. The item's page says what's missing. Add it, and Peak calculates on the next run.

  • How does Peak Inventory handle sets and bundles?Answer

How does Peak Inventory handle sets and bundles?

A sold set counts as sales of its components. That way, a well-selling set doesn't quietly drain the individual parts. Peak doesn't plan replenishment for the set itself. Shopify bundles come in automatically during sync. Owners and admins create other sets in Setup under “Sets and bundles”: the set's SKU, and one SKU with quantity per row. A set counts from the next run.

  • What happens when I dismiss a recommendation with “Not now”?Answer

What happens when I dismiss a recommendation with “Not now”?

The recommendation disappears from the open list. You can give a reason, such as “Item is being discontinued”. If the item's situation changes, Peak will bring it up again. Nothing is ever ordered without approval anyway.

Errors & problems

  • Why does Peak Inventory reject my CSV?Error message

Why does Peak Inventory reject my CSV?

Peak saves nothing as long as any row has an error. Common causes: the header row is missing, a column appears twice, no column is recognized, or a SKU doesn't exist in the catalog. Only owners and admins may import planning settings (lead time, minimum order quantity, pack size); remove those columns or ask them to do the import.

  • Why does Peak Inventory say “No forecast yet.”?Error message

Why does Peak Inventory say “No forecast yet.”?

Peak calculates demand from your orders in Peak Profit. As long as there are no orders there, there's no forecast and therefore no order dates. Connect Shopify or import orders into Peak Profit, and Peak calculates on the next run.

  • Why can't I approve or hand off a purchase plan?Error message

Why can't I approve or hand off a purchase plan?

Owners and admins approve plans and hand them off to purchasing. You can create a plan, check quantities and pass it on with “Submit for review”. Only an approved plan goes to purchasing; after approval the quantities are fixed, and changes need a new plan.
