The quickest way is “Adopt from People Core”: managers and teams already set on employments become a draft. It only takes effect once you review, approve and publish it under “Changes”. Alternatively you start with “Start empty” and create teams and reporting lines one by one.
- Open Organization & Org Chart in the company.
- Click “Create draft” under “Adopt from People Core”, or “Create first team” under “Start empty”.
- Review the draft under “Changes” with “Validate & impact”.
- Approve and publish it. Only then does the structure apply.

Every change starts as a draft with an “Effective from” date. The flow is always Save → Preview → Approve → Publish. Until that date today's structure stays valid, and the history is kept. You correct a published change with a new change, not by editing it.
- Click “Propose change”, or on a node “Assign manager”, “Change membership” or “Create unit”.
- Enter “Effective from”, add the changes and click “Save draft”.
- Use “Validate & impact” to check which units and reports are affected.
- Approve the draft and publish it. If a second approval is configured, another person is needed.

Yes, as CSV or XLSX with at most 200 rows under “Import or bootstrap structure”. You map the columns, such as employee_id, manager_employee_id, team, department and business_unit. Peak checks the existing IDs and doesn't create people. All rows need the same effective date. The result is an import draft that you review and approve like any change.
- Open “Changes” → “Import or bootstrap structure”.
- Choose the file and map the columns.
- Click “Create import draft”.
- Check the preview, approve and publish.

Frequently asked
1What does “Where clarity is missing” show?Answer
Page to shareWhat does “Where clarity is missing” show?
Gaps in the structure, marked on the nodes of the org chart: errors (âś•) before warnings (!). Peak checks whether every active employment has a primary manager and unit, whether units have an owner, whether a manager is inactive, whether there are cycles and whether spans of control fall outside the configured range. Open the case, check it in the chart and propose a change.

Errors & problems
1What does “Live structure changed. Rebase, preview and approve again.” mean?Error message
Page to shareWhat does “Live structure changed. Rebase, preview and approve again.” mean?
The valid structure changed after you reviewed the draft. So nothing unreviewed takes effect, Peak asks for a new comparison. Open the draft, click “Rebase on live” under more actions, review the preview again and approve it once more. You change reporting lines and units only here, not through People Core.
