Peak QR

QR codes in seconds that live on after printing: change them, pause them, see the scans.

My code is static. How do I get an editable one?

A static code contains the destination in the image and can't be redirected. On its page, “Recreate as dynamic code” creates an editable code with the same destination. It's a new image: you have to replace printed copies once, and after that you change the destination without reprinting.

  • How do I create a QR code?How-to

How do I create a QR code?

Open Peak QR and paste a link – or an email address, phone number or text. The code appears immediately, with its scan reliability below. “Download PNG” or “Download SVG”, done. You don't need an account for a static code.

    1. Open Peak QR.
    2. Paste a link: Peak detects the type itself and adds a missing https://.
    3. Optional: choose a style, colors, a logo or a text below the code.
    4. Watch the reliability; clicking the suggestion fixes problems.
    5. Download PNG for Word, Canva and the web, SVG for print.

  • Can I change the destination of a printed QR code?How-to

Can I change the destination of a printed QR code?

Yes, if it's dynamic. A dynamic code contains a Peak short link; you change where it leads on the code's page under “Destination”. It applies from the next scan, and the image stays the same. Every change is a version and can be restored. Static codes contain the destination itself and can't be changed.

    1. When creating, choose “Editable” and save (you need an account for this).
    2. Later: Codes → open the code → “Destination”.
    3. Enter the new destination; for printed codes, briefly add the reason.
    4. Every earlier version can be restored under “History”.

  • Can a QR code lead somewhere different depending on phone, language or country?How-to

Can a QR code lead somewhere different depending on phone, language or country?

Yes, for dynamic codes via rules. A rule checks operating system, device, language, country and optionally a time period, and sends matching scans to a different destination. The first matching rule wins; all others land on the default destination. Under “Test”, you see where a specific scan lands.

    1. Codes → open a code → “Rules · who goes where?”.
    2. New rule: choose conditions and enter “Then go here”.
    3. Click “Add rule”, then “Save rules”.
    4. Use “Test” to check that the order is right.

How do I make a QR code for the App Store and Google Play?

Create a dynamic code and use “App download: iPhone → App Store, Android → Play” in the rules. You enter both store links and click “Apply”. Computers land on the default destination, such as your website.

How do I add UTM parameters to a QR code?

When creating an editable code, turn on “Add UTM parameters” and fill in utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. Peak writes the values consistently in lowercase. Later, you change them on the code's page under “UTM · for your web analytics”.

How do I group QR codes into a campaign?

Under Campaigns → “New campaign”, with name, goal in one sentence, start, end and optionally budget. You assign a code on its page under “Context” → “Campaign”. The campaign then shows how many codes belong to it and how often they were scanned in 30 days.

How large do I need to print my QR code?

Under “Where will it be displayed?”, you choose the placement, such as business card, flyer, table tent, poster or shop window, and optionally the planned width in millimeters. Peak calculates the minimum width from the typical scanning distance and warns if your code is too small for it.

Frequently asked

  • What does Peak QR count as a scan, and what not?Answer

What does Peak QR count as a scan, and what not?

Every time a person opens the short link of a dynamic code. Peak recognizes link previews from messengers, email security scanners and bots and counts them separately. Only device, operating system, browser family, language and country are stored – no IP address, no cookies. That's why there are no “unique people”: someone who scans twice counts twice.

  • What do people see when a code is paused, archived or expired?Answer

What do people see when a code is paused, archived or expired?

If you've entered a fallback destination, they land there. Otherwise Peak shows a calm notice page (“currently paused” or “no longer active”) instead of an error message. If the actual destination goes down, Peak also sends scans to the fallback destination and lets you know in the Inbox.

  • What does “Printed / in use” do?Answer

What does “Printed / in use” do?

It protects codes that are already printed against accidents: they can't be deleted, and every destination change needs a reason. You'll find the switch on the code's page under “Lifecycle”, along with pause and archive.

Errors & problems

  • My QR code scans poorly. What can I do?Troubleshooting

My QR code scans poorly. What can I do?

It's usually one of four things: too little contrast, too narrow a margin (quiet zone), a logo that's too large or a print that's too small. Peak shows this live as scan reliability with a suggested fix. Dark code on a light background, a margin of 4 modules, a logo at most about a quarter of the width with error correction level H, and as a rule of thumb: width ≈ scanning distance divided by 10.

Can Peak QR do bulk import, custom domains or conversions?

Not yet. Today there are individual codes, rules, UTM, campaigns, scans and versions. CSV import, custom domains, PDF and print sheets, locations and print runs, team approvals, automations and measuring purchases or leads after the scan are the next stages.
