How do I get started with Onboarding & Offboarding?

Open the app in your company and choose “Onboarding” or “Offboarding”. Peak creates a standard template and publishes it. After that a journey starts by itself as soon as someone joins, changes position or leaves in People Core. You adjust steps, deadlines and owners in the template.

    1. Open Onboarding & Offboarding. In your personal space you pick the company first.
    2. Under “Onboarding” or “Offboarding”, click “Create standard template”.
    3. Under “Templates”, enter the owners for HR, IT and Finance.
    4. For someone who already exists: “Start journey”, pick the person. Date and company come from the employment.

  • How do I complete a step or a whole journey?How-to

How do I complete a step or a whole journey?

Open the step, set its status to “Done” and add the evidence if the template asks for it. Required and critical steps can't be skipped. A step only works once every step it depends on is done. On an offboarding, access, returns and handovers stay open until someone owns them and has confirmed them. Then you can “Complete journey”.

    1. Open the journey and the step under “Steps”.
    2. Check owner and evidence, choose “Done” and click “Save step”.
    3. On an offboarding: under “Review offboarding”, enter a person for each access, return and handover and set “Confirmed”.
    4. Click “Complete journey”. Cancelling needs a reason, and the history is kept.

Frequently asked

  • Does a new template version change running journeys?Answer

Does a new template version change running journeys?

No. Templates are versioned. A published version can't be changed; you save a draft and publish it as a new version. Running journeys keep the version they started with. Every template needs at least one step without a condition. People Ops manages templates; everyone else only sees the steps shared with them.

Errors & problems

  • Why can't I complete a step (“Dependencies not met”)?Error message

Why can't I complete a step (“Dependencies not met”)?

The database enforces the template's rules and reports in English. “Dependencies not met”: an earlier step is still open. “Completion evidence required”: the step needs evidence. “Required step cannot be skipped”: required steps can't be skipped. “Owner and confirmation required” and “Critical or required work is unresolved”: on an offboarding, an access, return or handover still lacks an owner or confirmation. “Journey changed. Please reload.” means someone else saved at the same time: reload the page and try again.

  • Does Peak revoke access automatically when someone leaves? Not available yet

Does Peak revoke access automatically when someone leaves?

Only through a configured Pipedream workflow and never without approval. Revoking access, creating accounts and group memberships always need “Approve action”. The step only counts as done once the service returns a confirmation. Without one it stays blocked and appears under “Open issues”. If no workflow is set up, you do the task yourselves and confirm it on the step.
